BREKKY with SCOTTY

Daily weekday breakfast show from 7-10am Monday to Friday presented by long-time local Scotty Day. A great mix of old and new music, interviews, comedy and community noticeboard. Also includes national and Indigenous news updates and the regional weather forecast.

Staying Healthy in the Kimberley

Weekly show focusing on positive health initiatives across the region between 11am-12 midday on Wednesdays. Presented by Nathalia Imberlong, who interviews health workers from our region’s principal health organisations, including BOAB Health, Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service (KAMS), the Old Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS), Wunan Health and others.

MONEY TALKS 

A weekly conversation presented by Natasha Short at the studios of Waringarri Media in Kununurra in the WA East Kimberley.

Money Talks features interviews and advice on all things money.  We all need it, but how do we best manage it? How do we protect and grow it – to gain control of our finances and improve the lives of our family and community?

It is a collaboration between Waringarri Media, Kimberley Birds, service providers and experts in the field, and is sponsored by the Wunan Foundation.

We tackle many related issues and expose scams targeting our people. Centerpay, online gambling, elder abuse and a lot more.

You can hear Money Talks on Mondays between 11am-12 noon, repeated 6-7pm Thursdays and 7-8am on Saturdays. It is also heard on many radio stations including, Radio Goolarri, Ngaarda Media, Larrkardi Radio, across the PAKAM Network – and around Australia on the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS).

JUNIOR BEATS

A locally produced music show presented by Eric Cox Junior, also known as DJ Junior aired between 6-8pm on Friday nights and repeated at the same time on Sundays. It features deadly playlists, with new tracks from Aussie artists from all over the country, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. DJ Junior also throws in some old classics and the best Aussie country tunes.

EVAN’S WORLD

A new weekly Indie music show presented by Evan Ransley. It features deadly playlists, with new tracks from Aussie artists from all over the country, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous.

Evan also chucks in some indie music from all over the world including the UK, Jamaica, US and across the Tasman in New Zealand.

Indie music is simply music that is independently produced by artists who want to keep control over their own music, and not beholden or owned by major music labels.

You can hear Evan’s World every Thursday and Saturday nights from 6-8pm.

Country Matters

Weekly show focusing on how local people across Australia’s remote north interact with country, presented by Donny Imberlong, a local environmental scientist and broadcaster.

Country Matters is produced in the studios of Waringarri Media on Miriwoong country in Kununurra, where it airs every Friday between 11am-12 midday, and is repeated 7-8am on Saturdays & 8-9pm on Sundays.

It’s also heard on stations across the Kimberley on the PAKAM Network, and around Australia on the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS).

Tuesday Lunchtime Show with Bryan Gallagher

Bryan Gallagher is a respected local Miriwoong language teacher and broadcaster. Every Tuesday he spins some of his favourite tunes and takes requests from countrymen between 12-2pm. He plays a wide range of music, from the old classics to new tunes, country, and some traditional songs.

COUNTRY AFFAIRS

Daily weekday morning talk show from 10-11am Monday to Friday presented by West Kimberley legend Sandy Dann from Radio Goolarri in Broome.  Sandy is a proud Nyul Nyul woman, who has been broadcasting for more than 30 years. Country Affairs is a magazine-style radio program that includes talk and interviews on topical issues of importance to locals across the Kimberley. It is heard across Australia on the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS).

LUNCHTIME REQUEST SHOW

The Lunchtime Request Show is aired live every Monday between 12 noon and 2pm. It’s presented by Matthew Francis from Radio Goolarri in Broome, who spins some deadly music, including a lot of local talent from across the Kimberley. Matty also yarns with artists and takes audience requests via the Radio Goolarri Facebook page.

Mary G Show

Weekly talk and music show between 7-10pm every Wednesday night. Mary G is a well-known and respected performer, comedian, musician and broadcaster from Broome. Her weekly show is heard around Australia on raising awareness about Aboriginal issues.

Legal Eagles

Weekly advice show on all matters to do with family law and more, aired between 11am-12 midday every Tuesday. Presented by Tawanda Mukosi and the team at Aboriginal Family Legal Services WA. All programs can he heard back on Soundcloud.

Consumer Watch

Weekly program aired between 11am-12 midday every Thursday, raising awareness of the latest scams affecting people in our region, especially ones targeting Indigenous communities. Presented by Nathalia Imberlong and the team of consumer watchers from Consumer Protection WA. It includes Cyberbeat, a 15-minute weekly program with news and analysis on what’s happening with the internet in Australia produced by the CBAA via CRN. Miriwoong Alive! 

Fortnightly show showcasing the stories and history of the local Miriwoong people airing between 1-2pm on Thursdays and Saturdays. In partnership with the Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring Language & Culture Centre, this program is a celebration of the Miriwoong people and their survival! It’s is presented by Che Kelly and the team from the language centre with production by Waringarri Media.

Afternoon Escape

Daily mid-afternoon show aired between 2-4pm Monday to Friday. Presented by Nathalia Imberlong, playing a great mix of music, and features up-coming artists, targeting Kimberley and WA musicians.

Aussie Rock Drive Time Show

Daily weekday program from 4-6pm Monday to Friday, featuring a playlist of the best home-grown Aussie rock and popular music tunes of all time. Mostly all the classics but also from over the past few decades.

Gospel Hour

Weekly Sunday morning gospel show with Kununurra Anglican Senior Minister Daniel Faricy aired between 7-8am each Sunday morning.

Weekend Country

Every Saturday and Sunday mornings from the crack of dawn until 12 noon. Showcases the best Aussie country from around the Kimberley and Australia, as well as overseas.

All Indigenous Music Mix 

Daily from 7pm-12midnight. All Indigenous bands and musicians from across the Kimberley and country. A mix of classics and new, as well as some country and traditional in language.

Weekly news and culture show from 1-2pm on Fridays. Presented Marion Cheedy a senior Yindjibarndi broadcaster at Ngaarda Media in Roebourne in the Pilbara. Marion is passionate about telling First Nation stories from across the nation.

NIRS Weekly News in Review

Weekly half an hour news program from 12.30-1pm on Fridays. The program features all the top news stories of the week compiled by the newsroom team at NIRS.

Includes interviews with local and national Indigenous Urban Music artists, presented by well-known artist Big Sexy.

THE LOCAL SOURCE

The CBAA weekly AMRAP program from the Community Radio Network. All Australian music from the AMRAP music catalog, can be heard between 6-7pm on Monday nights and repeated 4-5pm on Saturdays.

Australian Music is Bloody Great

Weekly show aired on Waringarri Media between 5.30-6pm on Thursdays and 4.30-5pm on Sundays. It’s produced by the team at Amrap – the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project – an initiative which aims to generate airplay opportunities for new, contemporary Australian music on community radio.

Aussie Music Weekly

Weekly show aired on Waringarri Media between 6-7pm on Tuesdays and repeated 5-6pm on Saturdays. Focusing on new local and independent Australian music and giving much needed exposure to artists who do not gain airplay through mainstream media. Presented by Noddy, features a mix of rock to pop, blues to folk, hip hop and funk.
