Waringarri Media Aboriginal Corporation operates the East Kimberley’s only locally based radio station and media organisation. We are WA’s oldest Aboriginal community radio station, that is proudly Indigenous owned and serving the whole region.
We broadcast out of our studios in Kununurra for a 300km radius to major towns, remote grazing stations, and outback communities across the WA and NT border region on 693AM and soon 102.1FM.
Waringarri Media plays a vital role in keeping the local community informed, with a high visibility covering regional news and events, online audio and video streaming, and a strong social media presence.
Our Shows
Waringarri Media is the region’s leading source of local news and information, music and entertainment. Our morning talk shows keep our local community informed and stimulated with interviews, local views and perspectives. This is sprinkled with a great mix of music, playing classic and new rock hits and popular music. We also play the best of country and Indigenous artists from across the Kimberley and Australia.

Prof MICHAEL WEAR Founder of TIDAL MOON on NALIJA TIME – 11am Today Professor Michael Wear is a proud Malgana man from the Gascoyne region of WA, and founder of TIDAL Australia's first Indigenous-owned and led sea cucumber fishery and marine restoration enterprise, based in Shark Bay (Gathaagudu). Under Professor Wear's leadership, Tidal Moon is partnering with scientists to restore one of the largest seagrass meadows at the UNESCO Marine World Heritage Site of Shark Bay. Drawing on his knowledge of Saltwater Country, culture and science, Professor Wear has developed a commercial fishery model for harvesting sea cucumbers, while also collecting conservation data through culturally directed methods. Professor Wear, who is also a Murdoch University academic, says Times Tidal Moon has been working on a model to scale up seagrass restoration by building human capital through our sea cucumber harvesting, and also the techniques of scaling that sea cucumber business as well.
