Country Matters

The program brings an Aboriginal lens to conservation, land, and water management, as well as development. It is informed by the rich traditional knowledge of local peoples, intertwined with science.

We explore issues impacting on country – from the perspectives of Australia’s first peoples. From resource extraction, farming, water use, tourism, care for country, emerging industries, and the impact of climate change.

We connect the whole north of Australia around these issues – East to West – from Far North Qld, the NT Top end, and the Kimberleys. And bring it to a national audience.

Country Matters airs on Waringarri Radio between 11am-12 midday on Fridays, and is repeated 7-8am on Saturdays & 6-7pm on Sundays. It’s also heard on stations across the Kimberley on the PAKAM Network, and around Australia on the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS).
