Yarning Business features interviews with some amazing First Nations Australian, making an impact in our community through their commercial enterprise. It follows from Natasha’s first series titled ‘Kimberley She’ro’. Country Matters was a weekly radio show and podcast produced at Waringarri Media Aboriginal Corporation throughout 2023. Take a listen back to this great series of interviews presented by Donny Imberlong, an Environmental Scientist with deep family roots to the region. Country Matters focuses on how local people across the Kimberley and the Top End interact with country, bringing an Aboriginal lens to conservation, land, and water management, as well as development. The ancient language is in danger, with fewer than 10 fluent speakers remaining, and there’s a race against time to keep it alive. This 26 part series is a partnership between Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring Language and Culture Centre (MDWg) and Waringarri Media, and is produced with the generous support of the Community Broadcasting Foundation. It is presented by Che Kelly, a young Miriwoong local who’s one of the teachers at MDWg in Kununurra.
